DiscoverEU – Meet-up Hamburg 29.08.-31.08.2022

The meet-ups offer the participants of the DiscoverEU Program the opportunity to get to know each other during their journey through Europe, to connect to their identity as EU-Citizens and to share the European idea of togetherness and cohesion. During the meet-up travelers will be invited to reflect on their journey and larger European issues such as environmental and sustainability politics. Participants also get the chance to network with each other, participate in activities together, interact with local people and share travel experiences.

Why should you want to meet-up in Hamburg?

• Get to know the biggest German port city on your way south from or north to Scandinavia! Hamburg is a lively city with beautiful historical sites, diverse neighbourhoods and a plethora of cultural offerings.
• We would like you get to know some fellow travelers and connect on travel plans, expectations, goals and experiences.
• We invite you to spend two nights at a downtown location with us, get to know local people, cook amazing food, drink some German beer, share stories and spend quality time.
• Accommodation (two nights) and food will be covered during the meet-up.

In the afternoon of the first day we will get to know each other and reflect on your journey so far. On the second day we will visit Hamburg’s town hall to speak with Hamburg’s Head of Senate Chancellery and the European department about sustainability goals and environmental politics. In the morning of the third day we will make some plans for the remaining journey ahead of you. We will have communal dinners and probably taste test some German beers. If the weather is nice we might do a beach cleanup and might even have a flunky ball tournament. You will also have enough time to relax and to network with the other DiscoverEU travelers.
